All starting to come together

This week me and my partner have been trying to sort out our GitLab so we both have access to our project, and I have been coming up with some design ideas like the buttons with the flowers for the moods and the colour scheme and titles etc. I really wanted the app to feel calming and a safe space for the user of it to be able to write down their thoughts and feeling or how their day went.

I did some artwork for the application on photoshop and showed my partner and asked him for his opinions and he seemed to really like it which is good! We both really like the idea od the application having a retro game feel and I chose sage green as the main app colour and it’s a calm neutral colour and won’t distract the user from the rest of the things on the screen but will look nice to the eyes.

I had some problems with the assets with having to resize them in photoshop because they were really small but me and my partner decided on the flowers we definitely want to have in our app and I did some research on how to resize lots of images quickly so they don’t lose resolution and I found this great video on YouTube that helped me a lot as there was about 24 images per flower and we decided on 5 types of flowers for the buttons so that’s 120 images to resize!

It’s really cool how its done because you basically record yourself resizing one image and then you apply that recording to a folder of images.

We also decided that it would be best to change the colours of some of the flowers to match the mood more, for example the okay button was a red rose, we changed it to white because okay is neutral. The sad button used to be purple, and I changed it to blue as blue usually corresponds with sadness, also the flower is sort of weeping and is bent down which suits sadness. And the angry button is a red cactus because well… you’re spikey when you’re angry
